There was a buzz when first-time organiser Limelite Productions Pte Ltd decided to give the Miss Singapore World pageant an overhaul by ditching the bikini segment. Limelite's Mr Raymund Ooi finally made the decision to reduce the bikini section to a quick walk-through. Miss Singapore World is focused on Charity - giving, sharing and keeping an open mind. Raymund Ooi believes that beauty can be used in purposeful ways to ensure that society benefits, at the same timeupholding the core principle of Miss World International – Beauty With A Purpose. |

The finalists will be participating in charity work and Miss Singapore World will be supporting 3 schools under the care of Community Chest: AWWA School, The Spastic Children’s Association School and Woodlands Gardens School. Twenty finalists were present. Ten finalists were then selected in the first round of elimination. These ten finalists were then paraded with their “love” ones (family members, etc) – a rare approach indeed. The eventual winner Miss May Hsu (Contestant No 8) made quite an impression with her verbal skills. Millie's Enterprise is proud to be the Official Wine and Liquor sponsor for the event. Voga Quattro, Voga Pinot Grigio, The Glenlivet 18 Yrs and GH Mumm champagnes were made available to the charitable, mature and influential crowd that night. |

Millésime Bio was created in 1993 by a handful of AIVB-LR member winegrowers from Languedoc-Roussillon to promote their wines as well as the new vintages for would-be purchasers. This year’s event, 560 exhibitors came from France, Argentina, Austria, Bulgaria, Chile, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. Sud de France represents not only the wine of Languedoc-Roussillon but its products as well. Bringing together hundreds of appellations, Vins de Pays and varietals from Languedoc-Roussillon, the Sud de France label seeks to promote the values of the region: conviviality, art de vivre, gastronomy, tradition, quality, sun and sea. |

This 3rd Edition of the bi-annual multi-nation event, was the biggest wine tasting within the Lanquedoc-Roussillon's wine sector. Millie's Enterprise was proud to be invited as an important delegate for this International Business Convention. About 200 wine importers from 35 countries were pre-selected for this event – meeting 350 producers. We met importers from Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, USA, Dubai. Mexico, Ireland, Poland, Russia etc. The weather was exceptionally C-O-L-D! It was 4 deg Celcius in Paris when we reached and -4 deg Celcius when we departed from Paris. There was a stopover for an explanation of the Limoux terroirs, grape varieties and grape growing methods as well as a guided visit to a winery. The last 2 days focussed on B2B sessions where we had face to face discussions with winery representatives and retaste their wines. We were surprised that the region also produces lots of sweet whites, even Muscats as well as rosé wines. |
Wine For Asia 2010
28-29 October 2010 Sands Expo And Convention Centre
Wine For Asia is a brand celebrated for its focus on business and education for the wine trade and hospitality industry. The new venue is at Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World.
WFA 2010, on its eighth edition, launched a Singapore Global Wine Personality this year and brought in Michel Rolland, the world’s foremost consulting winemaker. The initiative, the first of its kind in Asia, provided Singapore’s and Asia’s F&B trade and wine enthusiasts an opportunity to hear this influential Bordeaux-based oenologist, with hundreds of clients across 12 countries.
The WFA 2010 was smaller as compared to last year. Californian and New Zealand pavillions were not present this time as both held their own tastings a few weeks earlier. There was a Sake & Shochu Pavilion for the first time this year. Showcasing Japanese spirits, the dedicated pavilion showcased Japan's finest, and feature sake and shochu varieties that reflected this evolving industry. The increasing popularity of sake and shochu bodes well for this welcome addition.
A number of activities come with the WFA 2010 - Wine Business Forum , Master Tutorial with Certification in Landmark Australia, 1st Asian Riesling Forum as well as the ViniCasino 2010.
To the dismay of many exhibitors, the crowd is not strong – maybe due to the lack of MRT and awareness to the new venue and lack of publicity for the 2-day show.
Wine for Asia (WFA) and the Singapore Tourism Board had invited many guests to attend their Wine For Asia 2010 Roadshow Presentation Tasting Event. held at Vintry, Jaya 33, KL.

III Inverse Wine Mission
Villarrobledo, Albacete, Spain 19 April 2007 - 22 April 2007
A selected group of wine importers and distributors from all over the world participated in this event. In fact, about 16 people from - Canada, Argentina, Taiwan, Japan, USA, Moscow, Republica Dominicana as well as Singapore. Millie's Enterprise is proud to be in this wine mission, organised by the Official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Albacete (Castilla La Mancha Region, Spain).
On the first day, we attended the official welcome ceremony with the President of Albacete County Council, Villarrobledo Mayor, Director of Castilla-la Mancha Foreign Trade Promotion Institute (IPEX) and other invited guests. We later went on to taste the wines from the top 11 wineries (two wines per winery) and listen to their presentations. After the event, we went to visit some of the wineries.
On the next day, we visited a Wine Fair specially organised for us. In the afternoon, we visited different wineries, tasted a wider range of their wines and discussed with their export managers and owners.
During the short stay, we maintained very close contact with the representatives from these wineries. It was indeed an eye-opener - you can imagine the latest technologies being used in wine making - huge stainless steels tanks, underground vats, internet controllable tanks, etc.
Many wineries have built large water reserves (some as large as a small lake) for irrigational purpose. Now I understand the reason why. On reaching Singapore, I read about the severe drought the Australian farmers are now facing!
Language is indeed a barrier in Spain as most don't speak English. However, the organisers and winery representatives tried their best to translate their presentations in English for the minority of us who don't understand Spanish.

The Civil Service Club held this wine event together with the Chinese New Year Bazaar. Nine wine companies were present to exhibit their range of wines and accessories. The event ended with a lucky draw for all paid participants.
Millie's displayed a wide range of wines - Moselland Window Bottle Rieslings, La Mision series, the Duet and the Naked Range series.
Wine For Asia 2004
4th-7th Nov 2004 Singapore Expo
This year's event was held in only one hall, a vast difference when compared to the previous event. However, when we talked to the exhibitors about the responses, most of them were very happy and enthusiastic. In fact, the smaller scale of the event helped buyers finding the relevant suppliers easily.
Austrian, Bulgarian and Indian wines were being exhibited. South Africa, Chilean, New Zealand wines were also making a stronger presence besides the more established Australian, French and Californian wines.
A range of Canadian ice wines were displayed and another item that caught our attention is the 'canned' wines from Australia - particularly handy for picnickers and places where wine glasses are not easily accesible or prohibited.
SWA Charity Dinner 25th June 2004 The Neptune
We were there again, thanks to Singapore Women's Association (SWA). We participated in the SWA Charity Dinner as the sole wine supplier. The theme was Miss Singapore International 2004 Beauty Pageant. The event was graced by the Mrs Goh Chok Tong and occasion was full of activities, ending with the crowning of Miss Singapore International 2004, lucky draws and auctioning of Raymond Weil watches.
We introduced Australian wines such as Black Opal and the Duet range - a new range of boutique wines from Jansz Estate.
FHA 2004 20th-23rd April 2004 Singapore Expo
This was Asia's largest Food & Hospitality event, taking up halls 1 to 6. The biggest problem encountered was finding a parking lot!
Many wines were displayed and made available for tasting - from Australia, Austria, China, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, South Africa, United States, etc but we could not any Chilean representations in this event. Even Mou Tai wines from China were available for tasting.
However, a new German beverage product called WonderBar caught our attention. This is a range of cocktail premixes, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. If you are a cocktail fanatic and planning to set up a mini cocktail bar at home, this is the solution. It will simplify your inventory and shorten your concoction time. All you need to do is to add the juices etc!
Tanah Merah Lions Club Charity Drive 3rd April 2004
Friendz Pub & Wine Bar @ Ann Siang Hill
Millie's was involved in another charity drive organised by the Tanah Merah Lions Club. It was a very exciting event with beer drinking contests, wine auctions, etc.

Wine For Asia 2003
28th-30th Nov 2003 Singapore Expo
The Wine For Asia 2003 event just ended and it was indeed a disappointment. Not many wine accessories were displayed. Besides the Red Wine Stain Remover and the Private Preserve that uses inert gas spray for preserving opened wines, the only other accessory that catches our attention is the Enomatic's state-of-the-art wine serving systems.
Enomatic's intelligent automated features:
o A nitrogen gas system for preserving wine
o Automatic self-cleaning after every serve
o Precise volume control
o Serve wine by the glass at the right temperature
This fully automated system allows wines to be served at the push of a button.
Wines from Chile, Australia, Austria, Italy, Greece, USA, South Africa, France, etc were made available for tasting.
Miss Singapore International 2003 Beauty Pageant at The Neptune 1st August 2003.
Organised by the Singapore Women's Association, this was a fundraising event for charitable homes. Millie's was the sole wine supplier in this event with a wide range of Chilean, Australian, French and German wines.
